While driving, the power brakes will go out, and the consumer has to slam on the brakes to stop the vehicle. *Ak the consumer states that this is a problem with the anti-lock brake system. The vehicle also pulls hard to one side during the failure. It has pulled to the right and the left. The consumer states that its so dangerous, that he had to disable the anti-lock system. Consumer was getting off the interstate and lost majority of braking power. Took vehicle to a local garage. Garage was not able to fixed vehicle because chrysler star program only allowed Jeep representative to purchase the parts. Vehicle has been to 3 different dealers within 3 months. Consumer received manufacturer's recall 97-110:abs sysytem failure. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that in order for them to get into the system they need to diagnose the problem which would cost $233.00. Consumer would have to pay.
