In owners' own words
Brakes become very hard to press in traffic and while backing up. The condition worsens with multiple presses of the brake pedal. The stopping distance of the truck in increased even with increased pressure on the pedal. The truck has 28,463mi. I contacted a dealership and they will not cover this repair. I have ordered the parts and will perform the repair myself. Gm has issued a service bulletin on this pit5361b. Service brakes · reported at 28,438 miles
Brake vacuum pump booster. First started when driving under 5 mph. The brakes were hard to push down and would not stop the truck properly. Did this for approximately 3 months. Then driving getting off the interstate and applied brakes going 60 mph the brakes would not work. Could barley stop. Same issue has when driving slow. Now the brakes will not work at any speed. They truck is undrivable until it gets fixed. Service brakes · reported at 52,000 miles
The brakes failed as my son approached an intersection. Subsequently, he struck another vehicle broadside. Extensive damage was sustained to both vehicles. The driver reported that he pressed the brake pedal, but the truck would not stop. After I investigated further for an explanantion,I discovered that there was a recall on his brake system that might explain brake failure. The crash occurred on a city street.
