In owners' own words
The vehicle was briefly left in park with engine running and driver's side door open. The transmission slipped into reverse, resulting in a collision between the vehicle and a building which was used as a mini-store at a gas station. This was reported to my insurance compant (GEICO) at that time. My expenses include replaceing the driver's side door, bodywork to the Jeep, and increased insurance premium. Power train
While the engine was running I put the transmission in park and let the automobile. It then started to roll backwards for several yards and crashed into a parked car with no passengers in it. There was no one else in my car. I believe that it kicked out of park into reverse. I have learned that there have been several incidents regarding the transmission in Jeep cherokee's doing this kind of thing. Power train
