Takara recall - loud clicking sounds from underneath the vehicle. Took it local transmission mechanic and was told it was the transfer case motor. Did not get a safety warning light. After checking internet notice that I was the first with this problem. Seems Dodge has a history concerning transfer case motor. We were driving on the interstate in northern Kentucky when the battery alert LED appeared on the dash. We exited the highway while looking up info on possible car repair shops to go to when the vehicle stalled on the exit ramp. We immediately engaged the emergency flashers but they failed eventually due to a completely dead battery. It was determined that the alternator was fried, unable to charge the battery.
