Reading the numbers

Across the 23 model years of the Honda Pilot in this data, 2004 sits 9th by complaint volume. 2016 draws the most.

Filings have fallen off, 18 in the last three years against 22 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 103,000 miles.

In owners' own words

While driving in april of 2009, the drive gear keep blinking. Called the Honda dealer and they said to turn off engine and it should go away. It did go away, once the engine is off. Then in july 2009, it blink again, and it go away once the engine is off. Now the drive gear blinking light is on more frequently then before. I called the Honda dealer and they said they don't know why the d drive is blinking. Power train · reported at 90,000 miles
Complete transmission failure at 60 mph. No warning, no blinking lights, sounds, shuddering etc. I was able to coast off the freeway without collision! I had my car towed to the dealership and was told $5000-$5500 for a transmission replacement. My vin was not included in the transmission recall of 2004. This is dangerous! I am so grateful that my children were not with me and that there was no collision. Power train · reported at 91,000 miles
Transmission noise/vibration at low rpms while driving in 4th gear. Does not make noise while driving in d3. Recall work was supposed to have been done by dealer when vehicle was purchased new. Recall stated that trans could "lock up" while driving. Have seen other complaints online for same problem with acura mdx which uses the same transmission. The problem appears to be faulty torque converters. Power train · reported at 80,000 miles
