Reading the numbers

Across the 21 model years of the Dodge Durango in this data, 1999 draws the most complaints of any of them.

Filings have fallen off, 17 in the last three years against 38 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.

The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 68,785 miles.

In owners' own words

I just read an article in the wsj about reported failures of the ball joins on the front suspension. I just wanted to let you know that in may, 2003, I took my 1999 Dodge Durango in because it was shaking severely in the front tire area. As it turned out, the ball joint had to be replaced. Since you are investigating this problem, I thought I should report it. It was replaced by mac's auto ii in brighton, ny. Suspension
While driving, the vehicle started vibrating uncontrollably. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The driver noticed that the passenger side wheel had caved in. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that the left and right upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced due to corrosion. Please provide further information. Suspension
Loose upper / lower ball joints on 1999 Dodge Durango 4x4, 86,000 miles. Chrysler has recalled the 2000 thru 2003 Durango / dakota 4x4 for replacement of the same ball joints. Spoke with Dodge/chrysler's customer service on 2-9-05 and they advised me to take it into a Dodge on service center for there tech's to analyze. Before I could get it in on 2-10-05, they refused to provide any further consideration. Suspension
