Vehicle is having abs problems. There was a recall (74013) issued 8/29/05 which only covered vehicles in certain states, not virginia. Since brakes are a safety issue it seems that it should be. I called gm and they informed me it was not (71-716605105 claim #). Problem started with abs light coming on, took to repair shop and was told abs unit & ecm unit needed replacing (4/10/09). Total bill 1940.00. Service brakes, hydraulic · reported at 153,000 miles
My 1999 Chevrolet 1500 z71 has had numerous abs failures. A few very close calls. The dealer or mechanic haven't heard of a recall. I understand that the abs module is telling the system that one wheel is slowing down as if a skid erroneously which activates the abs taking the driver out of the equation. Sombodys going to die. Please forward any info to the e-mail address I listed . Thank you. Service brakes, hydraulic · reported at 40,618 miles
