In owners' own words
I've not had a failure but it seems that the 16" tire has exhibited the same failures as the recalled 15" tire and Ford voluntarily replaced all such tires in teh middle east. It seems imperative that the nhtsa require a recall of the 16" firestone wilderness tire as well as the 15" tire. My 16" tire, apparently, was produced at the same decatur, illinois problem plant.( Dot number: vdcu tire size: p255/70-16 ) Tires
Tire blew out, came completely apart at the seams, could find nothing wrong with the tire afterwards that would have caused this. Reported to both local Ford and firestone about this, and they wouldn't even discuss it since it wasn't one of the "recalls". I believe they all need to be looked into. Call t.V. Station and they have footage of the tire and all.( Dot number: tire size: p255/70r16 ) Tires
While driving, the left rear tire experienced a blowout where the tread meets the sidewall. Consumer is seeking reimbursement for the purchase of new tires. Ford replaced the firestone tires with the general tires and didn't want to replace all four tires like she asked. Consumer was aware of the blowout problems with general tires.
