Reading the numbers
Filings have fallen off, 16 in the last three years against 32 in the three before. That is normal as a generation leaves the road.
The median odometer reading at the time of complaint was 109,000 miles.
In owners' own words
At 81,100 miles the engine"check light came on. The dealer told me to replace the crankshaft sensor at $700.00 Which I did. Less than 300 mi later, the light came on again. This time I was told the whole computer was failing & needed replacement at $1600.00. Since my car has much less than 100,000 miles, I feel these problems should be covered by a warranty. Engine and engine cooling
Engine failed/seized due to low oil on 11/22/01 without any indicators from dash. Oil recently changed on 9/25/01.No indication of any problems at all! Cv boots and axles needed replacement at 68,000 miles to the tune of $1300.00. Is it possible that engine is too powerful for vehicle or oil sensor is defective? Have only had car since 5/01. Engine and engine cooling
Engine gaskets disintergrated allowing oil into gaps on spark plugs thus preventing several cylinders from firing. Automobile did not respond as it should have when attempting to accelerate, which created a very dangerous situation. Even Mazda's mechanics think that Mazda should be forced to correct this problem.
